I have seen the Google search page many times. Clicked the “Google Search” a lot. But yesterday I clicked the button next to it that is the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button. Just to know what will happen. On clicking the button I saw a strange count down. It appeared just below the privacy policy of Google search page. You can also give a try. You have to click the “I’m feeling lucky” button without entering any query in the search box. So just do it and see the countdown. A screen shot of which is shown below.

So what is the meaning of this strange count down? It is nothing but the time in seconds left for the New Year to arrive!!

AMD Triple-core Athlon II X3 435 and 425 Processors

The California-based Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has announced the upcoming availability of its new desktop processors. The new processors come under AMD’s leading line of Athlon II chips. The newly announced chips are the company’s first Athlon triple-core processors. The newly announced array of Athlon II CPUs has quad-core models. The chips have triple-core and dual-core in eight total new chips. Out of that six chips are the parts of the energy-efficient line-up. The low-cost model among the processors of AMD is the dual-core Athlon II X2 235e. This processor is specially designed to offer high speed of 2.7GHz. It can also give a TDP of 45W to the users.

Suppose your laptop was stolen by someone from the coffee shop you visit regularly. Of course you can give a complaint to the police. But you can have your own mechanism to track your stolen laptop. 3 easy steps to reuse a scratched CD

Our cds and dvds usually get scratched irrespective of the care that we give to avoid them being scratched. A scratched cd may not be read by cd or dvd readers. Spend a few seconds on this article to avoid throwing away your scratched cds and dvds. How is it possible to fix a scratched cd? The answer is simple. Data is written not on the surface of a cd or dvd, but it is burned into a surface residing a bit lower from the surface of the cd or dvd that come in direct contact with the reading lens of the cd or dvd reader.

As shown in the figure data is written on the surface below the polycarbonate outer surface. The laser bean traverses the outer surface to read or write data to and from the cd or dvd. What happens when a scratch appears on the outer polycarbonate surface.

The laser beam that is used for reading data will undergo refraction due to the scratch. Now we come to know the idea that if the scratch can be levelled by applying some sort of solvents the laser beam can easily traverse the outer polycarbonate surface to read the stored data.

Step 1:

Pour a small amount of metal polisher on to a paper tape and spread it over the surface of the CD. Use ample amount of force, so that the scratches are filled by the metal polish.

Step 2:

Allow it to dry. At this time the scratches on the surface of the cd will get filled.

Step 3:

Now rub off the excess metal polish. After this has been done the scratches on the surface of the cd will no longer be a reason for the laser to get refracted. So the cd or dvd will work normally. Simple no? Just give a try.

5 steps for data recovery from crashed external hard drive

External hard drives which run off USB can help us a lot with its greater storage capacity and portability. Most of us store valuable data in our external hard disc and one day we will be shocked to see the drive not being detected by the computer! But there may be some sort of jerking produced by the disc. But the good news is that we can recover data from such kind of damaged external hard discs in just 5 steps.

Step 1:

Unplug the damaged external hard drive from which you need to recover files.

Step 2:

The only tool that is needed is just a screw driver. By using the screw driver remove the cover of the external hard drive from which you need to recover data.

Step 3:

Disconnect the power cable and data cable from the external hard drive from which you need to recover files.

Step 4:

If no IDE ports are free, disconnect the DVD drive and connect the external hard drive in place of DVD drive. Now restart the computer.

Step 5:

The operating system will automatically detect the connected external hard drive automatically. If it is not detected automatically, get into the BIOS and make necessary changes.

Once the hard drive is detected, you can copy the data to your system’s hard drive. It is better to copy the data to a DVD to prevent future disasters.
