Free software to cool down your hot lap top

Most of the people face the problem of their laptop being heated up. Here you can read about, download and use a free software tool to fix the overheating problem. Using this free software called speed fan you can control the speed of your laptop’s cooling fan. This free software allows you to monitor the temperature of your laptop’s hard disk and motherboard. You can use S.M.A.R.T or SCSI attributes for this purpose. Custom events can be created to handle all the events automatically.
You can down load speed fan from the website of speed fan.

After downloading the executable file double click the setup file to agree with the licence terms.

Browse the location to which the tool is to be installed and click install.

On successful installation you will get a message like installation has been completed successfully.

Now launch the software by double clicking the shortcut icon added to the desktop during installation. You can see a screen like this upon launching the software. Click on the readings tab to know the CPU usage and CPU temperature.

Speed fan will automatically detect the hardware configuration of your laptop. But you can configure by the click of the configure button.

A few tips to avoid overheating of your laptops:

1) Clean out your laptop fan often.

2) Purchase a laptop cooler to increase the life of your laptop.

3) Do not block the air intake and exhaust vents of your laptop.

How to find out your stolen laptop?

Suppose your laptop was stolen by someone from the coffee shop you visit regularly. Of course you can give a complaint to the police. But you can have your own mechanism to track your stolen laptop. A free and 100% secure software application can help you to recover your stolen laptop. You can install the application named Adeona in your lap top. This will run as a process and will send the location of your laptop to adeona server at regular intervals of time. A recovery tool will help you recover the location details.

How to obtain and install adeona?

Go to http://adeona.cs.washington.edu/downloads.html and download the free adeona for your operating system. Run the setup file.

Install both client and recovery tool in your laptop.

Here you are asked to enter the password using which you can open up the location details.

You will get a screen like this when adeona is successfully installed.

At the same time you can see a file created in your lap top as shown below.

This file contains the retrieve credentials that is needed for the retrieval of laptop location details. So it is better to email a copy of this file to your personal email as shown below.
